Rico is a film director, producer and writer. His narrative feature, A MAN FULL OF DAYS, premiered in New York City at Anthology Film Archives in May 2015 and internationally at the Lausanne Underground Film Festival in Switzerland. The film re-interprets the story of Job within a fantastical context and is the first of seven films related to the wisdom books of the bible. His short film, QUEEN, is an operatic short based on Henry Purcell's "Dido's Lament." SALT IN THE AIR, a feature documentary, is a meditation on salt and salt-mining in the Carpathian Mountains. He executive-produced THE HUMAN TOWER, a vibrant display of human tower building that spans three continents. In April 2012, Rico received an artist-in-residence fellowship at Zion National Park, the first filmmaker to do so, and created MUKUNTUWEAP, a short, impressionistic essay. Rico co-produced PUSHING THE ELEPHANT (2010), which premiered at the Human Rights Watch Film Festival in New York and was broadcast on Independent Lens in March 2011. He was a producer for AN ENCOUNTER WITH SIMONE WEIL(2010), which premiered in competition at IDFA the same year. He was a consulting producer for ELECTION DAY (POV 2008) and ARCTIC SON (POV 2007). He edited AMAZING GRACE (2004) and HANGING (2004) with artist Wangechi Mutu and he wrote, directed and edited THE MISADVENTURE OF 95 (2005), an original short narrative.  He holds degrees from the University of Wisconsin and the University of Chicago.
